My favorite track off of fellow college alum’s Blue Chain Language new album “All Impulses”. Available on Bandcamp for $5 - buy it!
Cover comps for Bruno Mars album Doo Wops & Hooligans. While the selected album art certainly isn’t bad, these definitely take the cake. Great work by Oliver Munday.
Maroon 5 have two things going for them. One, they have a brilliant logo. Two, they are some catchy tune making dudes. They’ve always been my “guilty pleasure” band and their new album came out today. The cover caught my eye, hopefully the music will catch my ear.
Deportees album art.
I had no idea this guy (Childish Gambino) rapped…but I got his free album Culdesac and it’s actually pretty solid.
Sean Carey is the drummer from Bon Iver (who are amazing if you haven’t given them a listen). His debut album comes out August 24th, and from the sound of the free download In the Dirt, it’s going to be a great album.
Finally giving Travie McCoy’s (Gym Class Heroes) first solo album Lazarus a listen. As a big fan of GCH, and a neighbor to upstate New York, I’ve got high expectations for the Geneva, NY native. So far so good, it’s got the makings of a great pop-hip-hop feel goodery.
Pete Yorn is somewhere in my top three favorite recording artists list, battling it out with Citizen Cope and Kings of Leon (I’m going to assume you know who they are and not link to them). He’s set to release a new album September 28th that he recorded with Frank Black of The Pixies. Can’t wait.
Here’s another free album download via the ISO50 blog. It’s a mix of songs, both new and old, from the label Moodgadget.
Scott Hansen (ISO50) did the artwork for the new Dusty Brown album This City is Killing Me. Which is free to download here. If the music is any where as good as the artwork - it’s sure to be a good listen.
I posted the album artwork for Trent Reznor’s new band How To Destroy Angels (by Mark Weaver) last week. Today the album is available for download (for free), definitely worth checking out, and if you’re not a NIN fan like myself then there’s nothing to worry about because it’s got a much different sound.
Video above is the official music video for the song The Space In Between.
The Black Keys new album, Brothers, came out yesterday. It’s another great BK album and has quite a few more tracks then most of their albums. This poster comes with the album artwork/digital booklet.
About to listen to the new (and my first) Medications album with art done by Mark Weaver.
If you didn’t know “the Queen City” is a nickname for Buffalo, the town I will always call home. If you’ve ever seen my hat collection, or some of the decor in my apartment—you’d know that I try and represent for my city as best I can. Anyways, last week, I got my hands on Lil’ Waynes newest mixtape, “No Ceilings”. The free mixtape features 18, some remixes and some beats I don’t seem to recognize. One of my favorite tracks is “Break Up” because rapper Gudda Gudda gives my home town and home team a shout out when he raps (skip to about 2:45 in) “All about my Bills, like Buffalo”. I know this is more of an acknowledgment than a shout out but I don’t think I’ve ever even heard a rapper do that before. And, he’s right we are all about the Bills—which is why I’m still posting this after ANOTHER disappointing loss against the Jets last Thursday. Tear.
Download the mixtape here. Looks shady, but it’s legit!
